Fiddleneck (Amsinckia menziesii, Rancher's Fireweed) is one of the first wildflowers our on our property each spring. It's called Fiddleneck because the flower head looks like the neck of a fiddle, flowering first at the end and gradually unwinding. My challenge was to paint this rather plain, leggy plant with an interesting composition. Watercolor, 6.5" x 14.5"
